A CASE OF FMT PERFORMED FOR IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME (+SIBO)

Disease name : irritable bowel syndrome
At onset : 14 years old and up
Transplant Purpose: To Tiredness
Diarrhea
Gas
Skin problems (including atopy)
Chief complaint : SINCE ABOUT AGE 14, SHE HAD ABDOMINAL BLOATING, GAS, AND BURPING, AND FELT TENSE THROUGHOUT THE DAY. IT WAS ESPECIALLY BAD UPON WAKING UP, MAKING HIM SLUGGISH AND DIFFICULT TO GET UP. WHEN I WAS A STUDENT, I FORCED MYSELF TO WORK HARD DESPITE THE DISCOMFORT. HE HAD DIARRHEA FREQUENTLY SINCE HE WAS A CHILD. DIAGNOSED WITH IBS AT THE HOSPITAL, CF (4-5 YEARS AGO) SMALL POLYP (+) NOTED AND REMOVED.
Medications being taken : Iribo, Coronel, Biofermin, Mobicol, etc. were ineffective.
Medical history :
Background, family history, lifestyle, supplement use, etc : Grandfather: stomach cancer, diabetes; grandmother: high blood pressure

Transplantation period: from September 25, 2019 – November 14, 2019
Number of transplants : 6 times

【1st transplantation questionnaire】
(From patient) My stools don’t feel clear, they feel hazy, I’m not sure how I feel after drinking the water I’ve been drinking since August, but I’m concerned about my acne so I put it on my skin and it feels smooth, so I want to keep drinking it a little longer.

【2nd transplantation questionnaire】
(From patient) When I went outside in the morning, I felt like my vision had widened. Stools were rather colicky once after returning home yesterday and once this morning.

【3rd transplantation questionnaire】
(From the patient) Since the transplant was completed yesterday, I had two bowel movements, the first was watery stool. The next one was like a soft stool.
During the first transplant, I felt like my vision had widened, although it might have been my imagination. Yesterday and today I didn’t feel much of a change.

【4th transplantation questionnaire】
(From the patient) Bowel movements are fair. Type5 is common. Gas is still high. But the smell is decreasing.
Mental health seems to have calmed down. Stable. I used to have traumatic dreams in which people blamed me, but not recently. I dream that I am active by myself.
I am really feeling the change in my hair. Since the appearance of abdominal symptoms, I have been concerned about the loss of elasticity and strength in my hair, but since receiving FMT, my hair has become more resilient and easier to set.
My nails, which used to be brittle and deformed, have changed beautifully. She is more careful about her diet than before because she has undergone flora transplantation.

【5th transplantation questionnaire】
(From patient) Yesterday night I had watery stools. It was only once. I didn’t have any abdominal pain or anything. When I walked out of the hospital, my vision felt brighter.

【6th transplantation questionnaire】
(From the patient) After the 5th transplant, I felt a little bit of a stool urge, but I could tolerate it, so I held on. There was no particular pain. I have been eating well.

Evaluation and Discussion

Transplant Evaluation : Moderate improvement of symptoms
Adverse events: No Nothing
Changes after completion of transplant :
At the end of the third transplantation, the patient’s abdominal symptoms and skin symptoms improved, and she underwent an additional three transplantations (total of six transplantations).
In addition to the same symptoms, she was pleased to see that her hair had become shiny.
Transplant General Comments and Discussion :
The initial goal of abdominal symptoms was improved, and we believe it was effective.
