Intestinal flora transplantation and case studies

【Report Vol.5】5th Annual Meeting: ASD Case Report

Report on the 5th Annual Meeting <vol.5>

“The Potential of Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT) in the Treatment of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders”

Dr. Masahiko Shirotani, Director, Luke’s Ashiya Clinic

Presented the results of a study conducted on children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

In addition to changes in intestinal flora before and after FMT, we are currently monitoring children diagnosed with ASD for changes in gut flora and behavior using a check sheet to evaluate changes in behavior, etc. and a gazing target measurement device (Gazefinder) to evaluate difficulty in eye contact and lack of interest in others, which is considered to be common in ASD. Changes in gazing targets using the Gazefinder are also monitored.

THERE WAS AN INTERESTING REPORT ON THAT CASE AND ALSO ON THE CHANGES IN DRAWING TESTS BEFORE AND AFTER FMT FROM A PSYCHO-CLINICAL PERSPECTIVE.

[Related] Lecture by Dr. Jotani will be held.

On Saturday, November 27, a seminar on intestinal environment titled “Forest, Sea and Intestinal Bacteria” will be held under the auspices of “Luke’s Ashiya Clinic.

Seminar sponsored by Luke's Ashiya Clinic "Forest, Sea, and Intestinal Bacteria"

Shin Shimizu, a senior researcher from Symbiosis, will also participate.

In this seminar, you will hear about how the forests and oceans that surround us are related to the intestinal bacteria that play a major role in our health.

We hope that through the perspectives of molecular nutrition and “planetary health,” which considers the health of the entire planet, people will become aware of the importance of harmony with the environment, both inside and outside themselves.
