【Important】Response to the spread of the new coronavirus
The spread of the new coronavirus continues to cause turmoil around the world.
We understand that many of you reading this site are also going about your daily lives in a state of anxiety.
While obtaining the latest information from reliable news sources, it is important not to panic more than necessary, but to work together with your neighbors and act calmly.
In consideration of the safety of patients, medical institutions, staff, and donors, we, Japanbiome, have decided to take the following measures.
∙ In accordance with the government policy of minimizing outings, one person involved in dispatch operations, etc., and a maximum of two persons will be on duty for a short period of time, while other staff members will work from home in principle.
∙ After today (March 30), the acceptance of new donor flights will be suspended indefinitely.
All donor stools received after January 16, when the first infection was confirmed in Japan, will not be accepted for use as transplantation fluid.
This decision may make it more difficult for us to provide some of our services, such as simplified responses to inquiries.
For patients currently undergoing transplantation
The intestinal flora transplants that we currently offer to our patients use only intestinal bacteria provided by donors prior to January 15, 2020.
This is before January 16, 2020, when the first case of novel coronavirus infection was confirmed in Japan (a Chinese man in Kanagawa Prefecture), and we believe it is safe to do so.
Please be assured that for the time being, both donor stools and the Ultra Fine Bubble water used to treat the stools have materials that were in stock prior to the spread of the infection.
For those considering testing or transplantation
Intestinal flora balance tests can be accepted as usual as of March 30, 2020.
Please apply to each affiliated medical institution.
As of March 30, 2020, intestinal flora transplants can be accepted and shipped as usual.
For donor stools donated before the infection was confirmed in Japan, we have enough stock for transplants for the time being.
However, if the current situation persists for a prolonged period of time, we may run out of stock of some donors, and we may be forced to temporarily stop accepting new transplant patients in the future.
Contact us
We sincerely hope that the situation will be brought under control as soon as possible, and the institute will take all possible measures to ensure “safety first.
If you have any questions, please use the inquiry form on this website or contact our affiliated medical institutions.
