【Report vol.4】5th Annual Meeting: ASD Case Tally

Report on the 5th Annual Meeting <vol.4>

IN THE AFTERNOON, WE GAVE A PRESENTATION ON AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS (ASD).

First, Dr. Taiichi Katayama, Vice Dean and Professor of Molecular Biogenetics at the United Graduate School of Child Development, Osaka University, gave a keynote speech. Dr. Katayama explained the development process of the “Gaze Finder,” a device that enables even small children to objectively quantify the world they are looking at by looking at a screen for only two minutes, and outlined in as easy-to-understand terms as possible how the disorder and condition of autism spectrum disorder is viewed, the challenges it poses, and its scientific solutions. The lecture was given in an easy-to-understand manner.

SYNBIOSIS IDOMOTO THEN REPORTED ON THE SUMMARY OF THE GAZE FINDER MEASUREMENT DATA AND THE DISCUSSION THAT RESULTED FROM IT, WHICH WAS CONDUCTED ON SEVEN CHILDREN DIAGNOSED WITH ASD WHO HAD UNDERGONE INTESTINAL FLORA TRANSPLANTATION.

THE USEFULNESS OF INTESTINAL FLORA TRANSPLANTATION (FMT) IN “AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER” AS SEEN IN OUR STUDY GROUP’S CASE STUDY.

STUDIES HAVE SHOWN THAT PEOPLE WITH ASD SPEND LESS TIME LOOKING AT A PERSON’S EYE AREA (I.E., HAVE DIFFICULTY MAKING EYE CONTACT WITH A PERSON) THAN PEOPLE WITH TYPICAL DEVELOPMENT. IN THIS GAZE FINDER, A PICTURE OF A PERSON AND A GEOMETRIC PATTERN ARE SIMULTANEOUSLY PLACED LEFT AND RIGHT ON THE SCREEN TO MEASURE HOW THE PERSON LOOKS AT THE SCREEN.

ALTHOUGH OUR RESEARCH ON ASD AND INTESTINAL BACTERIA HAS JUST BEGUN, WE ARE HAPPY TO REPORT THAT WE HAVE MADE NEW DISCOVERIES THROUGH THE CHILD’S BEHAVIOR, CHANGES IN THE INTESTINAL FLORA BALANCE, AND THROUGH OBJECTIVE MEASUREMENTS WITH THIS GAZE FINDER.
