[The 5th Annual Conference] Interview with Ai Kitamura, President, Love I Food Education, Inc.
Expectations for the value-added possibilities of intestinal flora transplants that lead to fermented foods”.
Corporate Supporting Member General Incorporated Association Love I Food Education Representative Director Ms. Ai Kitamura
Fermented foods have been booming in recent years and are expected to have an effect on the intestinal microflora. We interviewed Ms. Ai Kitamura, a fermented food specialist and the president of Love I Food Education, a general incorporated association (a supporting member of our association), about the health value expected from intestinal flora transplantation.

Intestinal flora transplantation leading to a fermented diet
This is the fourth time I have attended the Intestinal Flora Transplant Clinical Research Society and Conference. The first time I attended was from the second conference, when I was invited by a friend.
I myself have been suffering from generalized atopy and other physical ailments since I was about two and a half months old, and I wanted to become a chef who served healthy meals in order to improve my own physical condition.
At the time I first encountered the Intestinal Flora Transplant Clinical Study Group, I was running a restaurant and cooking school, and many of my customers were sick or concerned about their health, and my own background made me intuitively decide to join.
The case reports were very easy to understand, and I was especially interested in the food discussion, as I am a cook myself. While listening to the case reports, I felt something similar to fermented food in terms of intestinal flora transplantation.

Food and medicine are on the same line.
Fermented food is said to be good for the stomach and intestines, but we do not believe that it is the best way to improve health. This is because health cannot be achieved by food alone, no matter who you are.
Various elements complement each other to create a person’s health. In terms of the gastrointestinal tract alone, I do believe that fermented foods have many positive effects. I myself have always tried to consume fermented foods. However, fermented food is only one part of the diet. It is one of the elements that may play a part in your health.

It is just as medicine is made up of collaboration between doctors in various fields. We believe that if food and medicine cooperate with each other, it will be very useful for health promotion.
Intestinal flora transplantation is a revolutionary method that is expected to improve the balance of the intestinal microflora. Recent research has gradually revealed how the intestinal microflora works against diseases such as ulcerative colitis and autism spectrum disorder. I believe that if fermented foods are added to these studies, the possibilities for better health will increase.
Potential for value-added health assets
If a positive change appears in the intestinal flora as a result of intestinal flora transplantation, we expect that positive changes will appear not only in health but also in the patients’ own way of life. Intestinal flora transplantation is also a drug-free treatment method, so for those who have been suffering from the side effects of drugs, it may also be useful in creating mental health. This could lead to a very large health asset. I really feel such potential.
If one’s mind and body are healthy, one’s way of thinking will be more inclined in a positive direction, which will change the way one lives and reduce the risk of inviting other illnesses. After all, it is very difficult to live with a disease.
From these points of view, one cannot help but feel a sense of hope that intestinal flora transplants will add value to our health assets.
