Greetings from the Representative Director

Greetings from the Representative Director
Representative Director Yoshimu Tanaka President, Tanaka Clinic, Jinzenkai Medical Corporation
The Intestinal Flora Transplantation Clinical Research Society of Japan is pleased to announce its 7th Annual Conference. We would like to express our gratitude for the support and cooperation of patients who have undergone transplantation, doctors and other medical professionals affiliated with the study group, supporting members, and the general public. Our research group has been the first private sector in Japan to systematically work on the transplantation of intestinal microflora. In May of this year, doctors belonging to this research group started a clinical study of “a novel fecal microbiota transplantation method using nanobubble water (NanoGAS® water)” (novel FMT method) for children with autism spectrum disorder aged 5 to 12 years, without using antimicrobial agents commonly used in conventional methods. THIS FMT METHOD IS BEING DEVELOPED AS A NEW METHOD THAT DOES NOT REQUIRE ADMINISTRATION OF ANTIMICROBIAL AGENTS OR INTESTINAL CLEANSING PRIOR TO FMT, WHICH HAS BEEN DONE IN PREVIOUS STUDIES, AND THAT USES A SMALL DOSE (ABOUT 1/1000 OF THE DOSE (NUMBER OF BACTERIA) USED IN THOSE STUDIES). TO DATE, THE METHOD HAS PRODUCED RESULTS NOT ONLY IN GASTROINTESTINAL DISEASES SUCH AS ULCERATIVE COLITIS AND IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME, BUT ALSO IN ALLERGIC DISEASES SUCH AS ATOPIC DERMATITIS. IN THE FUTURE, WE WOULD LIKE TO PROMOTE THE CLINICAL VALIDATION OF THE INTESTINAL BACTERIA IN RELATION TO CANCER. WE WOULD LIKE TO ASK FOR YOUR GREAT SUPPORT AND COOPERATION.

Speakers

Intestinal Bacteria and Cancer

Future Clinical Research in the Intestinal Flora Transplantation Clinical Study Group - Cancer Initiatives
Representative Director Dr. Zen Tanaka
Jinzenkai Tanaka Clinic President
A link between intestinal bacteria and cancer has been pointed out, in part because both are mutually related to the human immune system. Some studies have suggested that an imbalance in the intestinal microbiota may lead to the development and progression of cancer, and that certain intestinal bacteria may hold the key. Based on the paper “Nutrients” published in 2021 by Dr. Zen Tanaka, the president of this study group, we will report on the latest cases and cancer from the viewpoint of intestinal microflora.

Case reports

A case of food intolerance showing improvement by intestinal flora transplantation
Dr. Yuichi Kawai
Medical Corporation Yuakai Cute Internal Medicine Clinic Chairman of the Board
The involvement of dysbiosis in many diseases has become apparent, and fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is being investigated for many diseases worldwide. Recently, it has also become clear that intestinal bacteria are involved in digestion and absorption by producing enzymes that break down various specific nutrients that cannot be produced by humans. FOOD INTOLERANCE IS “THE INABILITY TO PROPERLY DIGEST CERTAIN FOODS,” AND TREATMENT FOR THE ELIMINATION OF THE FOODS THAT PRODUCE THE INTOLERANCE FROM THE DIET IS OFTEN DIFFICULT IN THE MODERN DIET, AND THE SYMPTOMS AND THE DIFFICULTY IN MAINTAINING THE ELIMINATED FOODS IMPAIR THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF THE PATIENT. We report a case in which FMT improved the dysbiosis of a patient with dairy and meat intolerance, and after FMT, the patient no longer had diarrhea after consuming dairy and meat products.

Just the Right Intervention” for the Intestinal Environment Created by Intestinal Bacteria

Makoto Shimizu
Symbiosis, Inc. Senior Researcher
Bacteria cover our bodies from the inside and outside. They are not well-liked, but they are only a small part of the pathogens, and most of them are a part of us, working as part of our metabolism and immune system. What is a healthy intestinal microflora? Can the intestinal microflora be changed? WHILE TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE LATEST FINDINGS, THE STUDY GROUP WILL INTRODUCE ITS OWN FMT (INTESTINAL FLORA TRANSPLANTATION) TO ACHIEVE ITS GOAL.

Presentation of the results of joint research at Kobe Gakuin University

Risako Morishita
Symbiosis, Inc.
We are collaborating to evaluate the fundamentals and applications of Nanobubble (NanoGAS®) in the pharmaceutical and medical fields starting in 2020. Various gases contained in air have various physiologically active effects on living organisms, but it is generally difficult to utilize gases for living organisms. Nanobubbles, which can hold gases in liquids for long periods of time, make it possible to “drink” gases. In this study, we examined the effect of drinking NanoGAS® hydrogen water, which contains hydrogen with antioxidant properties, on the reduction of oxidative stress and reported on the oral gas delivery capability of NanoGAS®.

ASD CLINICAL RESEARCH INTERIM REPORT

Specific Clinical Research Begins ~ The Challenge of Developing a Treatment for Autism Spectrum Disorders! ~.
Dr. Masahiko Shirotani
Luke’s Ashiya Clinic Director
ルークス芦屋クリニック 城谷昌彦 先生THE PURPOSE OF THIS CLINICAL STUDY IS TO OPEN A NEW PATH TO THE TREATMENT OF AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER (ASD) USING A “NEW INTESTINAL FLORA TRANSPLANTATION (FMT) METHOD USING HYDROGEN NANOBUBBLE WATER”. THIS NEW FMT METHOD DOES NOT REQUIRE ANTIMICROBIAL ADMINISTRATION OR BOWEL CLEANSING, WHICH ARE COMMONLY USED WHEN PERFORMING FMT, AND ITS DOSAGE (NUMBER OF BACTERIA TO BE ADMINISTERED) IS LESS THAN 1/1000 OF THE CONVENTIONAL FMT METHOD, MAKING IT A MODERATE CONDITION FOR CHILDREN WITH ASD. In this presentation, we will report on the background of the specific clinical research and the mid-term results of the clinical research that started in May.
